We are a full-service intellectual property law firm located in Cologne, Germany, representing domestic and foreign clients on all continents of the globe in the field of invention, in particular patents, trademarks, utility models and designs as well as the prosecution, enforcement, defence and licencing thereof. The firm was founded in 1947 and its 50 plus years of international representation have engendered excellent business relationships with colleagues and companies throughout the world.

Presently the firm has twelve partners. All of the partners of our firm are qualified German and European Patent Attorneys and are admitted to the European Community Trademark Office, Alicante (OHIM). Each partner handles all facets of intellectual property practice, including patent matters, trademarks, Gebrauchsmuster (utility models), design patents, plant (species) protection, topography law, and software protection. This entails drafting, filing, prosecution, opposition practice, appeals, infringement suits (litigation), licensing, as well as client counseling. 

Each partner is personally responsible and intimately involved with client cases. Partners are involved with the cases from drafting, filing and examination through the opposition-appeal phase. Moreover each partner becomes involved in the subsequent enforcement of the intellectual property right, including invalidity actions and infringement litigation proceedings in all court instances up to the German Federal Supreme Court (BGH). 

With eight partners having academic degrees in chemistry/biochemistry and four partners having degrees in engineering/electrical engineering the firm is able to handle patent matters in all areas of technology including electrical engineering, electronics, semiconductors, software, information technology, mechanical engineering, physics, organic and inorganic chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmaceutical and agricultural chemistry. 

Our firm's support staff includes about 65 members. We have a team of six full-time translators, including three Ph.D. chemists/biochemists, who specialize in translating from English or French into German and vice-versa.

We have a searching department which conducts online patent and trademark searches, watches and status reports. We have access to all relevant IP-related data bases. We have also on-site access to European (EPO), international (PCT, WIPO), and German published patent documents (German Patent and Trademark Office), as well as German and international trademark registrations via CD ROM.

Our office also includes highly experienced staff to manage our docketing and record center which includes an annuity payment department to ensure the timely payment of annuities, renewal and maintenance fees, and the like. In addition we have skilled professional secretaries to assist each attorney.
